Expandable Breast Implants

Making the decision to have your breasts enlarged is not an easy one. The elected option to have surgery is usually a frightening one. If you get past the fact that you are having surgery for something non-health related you are faced with many other options and decisions. One major decision is always what size to go with. For some this would not be a real difficult decision while for some others who have never had much in the breast department will want to know what each size feels like on their body. With the invention of expandable breast implants this decision has been made easier.



With the expandable breast implant a surgeon can adjust the size of the implant with saline solution for up to six months after the implant is placed. This allows the wearer the ability to take different breast sizes on a test drive. Just like other breast implants expandable breast implants also have the options of choosing the texture and shape of the implant. This surgery takes less time than that of a regular breast augmentation and is only one of the many reasons why more and more women are opting for it. The expandable breast implants are one of the better choices for women that have had to have a mastectomy.



One down side of wanting expandable or adjustable breast implants is in finding a cosmetic surgeon to do them. There are fewer surgeons that are willing or that are allowed to do this type of plastic surgery on a patient than other types of implant surgeries. Another downside is that once the valve is removed from the implant the implant can no longer be adjusted. If something should happen to the implant than it would need to be completely replaced. If the implant needs to be taken out it will cause a bigger scar than that of a regular implant.
